New Steps of Faith!
May 2026
A dear sister in Christ and pastor's wife took me by the arm. This prayer warrior often drops nuggets of golden wisdom in her everyday conversations. My ears harkened to her voice, and my mind focused its memory to capture what she said, "Elisha, you're in a new season now." Her eyes peered straight into my heart, "Read Deuteronomy. I always tell the girls when their lives are in the middle of a big change, to go through Deuteronomy." The grace of the Lord already allowed me to be in Numbers for my Bible reading plan, so I was delighted that her instructions confirmed what God's providence was designing.
His leading, His guiding every step of the journey.
As it was for the children of Israel, so too the Lord desires to lead us, to provide for us, to care for us, to dwell with us. And that's exactly what the Lord is doing with the Threads of Grace podcast ministry. He is leading us to take new steps of faith. For its first six seasons, our episodes were brought to you by God's Way Radio, a ministry of Calvary Chapel Miami. Threads of Grace will now continue as its own entity. We humbly ask for your prayers- may the Lord continue to be glorified through every word, every episode, every guest for His kingdom!
Numbers 9 closes with the way that God led His people, and it captures my heart, not only for the podcast ministry, but for every area of my life. I pray and trust your heart will be encouraged by these verses, "So it was always: the cloud covered it by day, and the appearance of fire by night. Whenever the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle, after that the children of Israel would journey; and in the place where the cloud settled, there the children of Israel would pitch their tents. ... So it was, when the cloud remained only from evening until morning: when the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they would journey; whether by day or by night, whenever the cloud was taken up, they would journey. Whether it was two days, a month, or a year that the cloud remained above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would remain encamped and not journey; but when it was taken up, they would journey. At the command of the LORD they remained encamped, and at the command of the LORD they journeyed; they kept the charge of the LORD, at the command of the LORD by the hand of Moses." Numbers 9:16-23
Plant of Renown
December 2025
Have you ever been somewhere so beautiful that you were caught up in the majesty and splendor of our Lord? A few summers ago, my husband and I travelled to San Francisco where we saw the towering old-growth redwood trees of Muir Woods. As we walked in the cool shade of the grove, the silence reminded my heart, “Be still and know that I am God.” When finally the trail led us to the tallest Redwood of the reserve, I gazed upon its height of 258 feet and realized for the first time on the trip, “This is something I’ve wanted to do since I was a little girl.” I had inadvertently accomplished something on my “bucket list”—see the redwoods. I stood holding back tears, overwhelmed by such a magnificent expression of His favor.
How could a tree be so moving? This lesson examines the picture of the “plant of renown” found in Ezekiel 34:29-30, “And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more. Thus shall they know that I the Lord their God am with them, and that they..are my people, saith the Lord God.” (KJV) We know Christ is above all Creation for He created all things, yet false religions exalt nature in worship. Let us not fall into the same confusion. The “tree of life” in scripture ought to simply point us to Christ.
During my time as an English teacher, much of the joy found in teaching literature came from classroom discussions. The students would have the opportunity to reference novels, short stories, poetry, and other writings in order to think about and to express their views in life. The authors we studied often used motifs, or recurring objects and images, to represent the central idea-theme. Motifs take on many shapes and forms (light, darkness, keys, imprisonment) all comparisons to life’s deeper aspects. The Author of our life and faith has filled His Scriptures with several motifs-threads of grace woven together to make a beautiful tapestry of His love, His character, His plans for you and for me.
May the tree of life be a visual reminder, as we look at the Bible and at creation, of the majesty and splendor of our Lord Jesus Christ!
